The Department of Applied Linguistics was established in the Lviv Polytechnic National University in June 1997 in order to train specialists by occupation “Applied Linguistics” at the Institute of Human Studies.
Since 1 November 2001 the Department is a part of the Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies.
Associate Professor Andreichuk Nadiia Ivanivna — Ph.D. in Philology is the founder of the Department.
Since 2005 on the Department there is a Postgraduate Study majoring in “Structural, Applied and Mathematical Linguistics”.
Seven Ph.D thesis works in the field of: 10.02.04 Germanic Languages and 13.00.02 Educational Theory and Methodology have been defended during the time of the Department’s existence.
