Find yourself in civilian life: a graduation ceremony was held within the framework of the «Norway – Ukraine» project

A solemn graduation ceremony for students – veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military organizations, who participated in the project «Norway – Ukraine. Professional adaptation. Integration into the state system» at Lviv Polytechnic National University, took place in the House of Warriors in Lviv».

The project, which is organized and managed in Ukraine by the International Foundation for Social Adaptation, is funded by the Government of Norway. This project is a logical continuation of its predecessor, which was implemented in Ukraine for almost 20 years and ended in December 2019.

This spring, the non-governmental organization in partnership with Lviv Polytechnic National University continued the implementation of a new project, in which 32 veterans and their family members underwent professional training in Project Management. The training was organized at Tech StartUp School, Lviv Polytechnic, with the involvement of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, the International «Integration» Center for Professional Partnerships, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Administrative and Financial Management, the Department of Finance, the Institute of Economics and Management, and Tech StartUp School, said Konstantyn Levchenko, Head of NGO «New Society of Ukraine».

Because of pandemic and the announced quarantine, all theoretical classes were held online. As part of the training, students had the opportunity to take part in a workshop supported by Reutlingen University and speaker Dr. Lyubomyr Matsekh. Project participants learned about prototyping abroad and the importance of using proven methods of implementing new technologies.

Despite the distance learning, the teachers used all possible formats of teaching: presentations, videos, text materials, as well as broadcasting the screen while studying special programs. In practical classes students worked both individually and in focus groups, which allowed making the learning process more interesting and effective.

As a result of training, 18 servicemen presented 18 business ideas, in particular: INDUSTRIAL ALP (Industrial Climbing), «TARILKA Food Bank», «Ozone Expert (ozonation and ecotuman)», «SICH – emergency prevention system. Smart safe house», «Clean & Frensh – Mobile car wash», etc.

Former soldiers and officers expressed their sincere gratitude to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NORD University (Norway), International Foundation for Social Adaptation, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Tech StartUp School and NGO «New Society of Ukraine» for giving war veterans the opportunity to acquire new skills that will help them find themselves in a new peaceful life.
