Lviv Polytechnic has been implementing real projects commissioned by enterprises and organizations for many years in a row. According to Oleh Davydchak, Vice-Rector for Graduate Education, the result of the increase in the share of final year projects commissioned by enterprises is related to economic development, as cooperation in those areas which are developing and need specialists is bigger. In particular, the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems and the Institute of Economics and Management have performed the largest share of final projects commissioned by enterprises and organizations, namely 33% of their total number in 2019–2020. The Institute of Architecture and Design, the Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems, the Institute of Geodesy, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology, and the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies fulfilled up to 10% of final year projects last year. These projects are dedicated to real design and economic developments, in particular it concerns the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences – 65% of projects are dedicated to real developments, although they were not performed at the request of enterprises this year.

Most of the defended final year works of the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems (90%) are dedicated to real projects. In 2019, the increase in the share of final year projects commissioned by enterprises at the Institute of Economics and Management was 26%, and in 2020 – 33%; at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport – 40% of the total number of final year projects in 2019, and in 2020 – only 10% due to the current market situation.
