Education and professional sports: how Polytechnic students combine both

Lviv Polytechnic students develop and improve their skills not only in education, but also in sports. While studying at various Institutes and obtaining a specialty, they also participate in international competitions, win championships and super cups and receive the title of masters of sports.

We asked them whether it is easy to combine study and sports, what opportunities for development Polytechnic gives them and what they can advise their peers.

Oleh Lehendzevych

Oleh is a 4th year student at the Institute of Economics and Management. At the age of 11 he started attending Enerhia sports school. Then he decided to try his hand at big football at the Karpaty football school. After the 11th grade he returned to futsal, first played at the amateur level, and then became a member of the Enerhia team. It was with this team that he won his first victories and achieved remarkable sports results.

Ivan-Pavlo Milkovych

Ivan-Pavlo is a 4th year student at the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology. He was brought to the sport by his parents at the age of 12. Back then, archery was just a hobby that allowed him to have fun after school, but later the sport became so popular that the thought of quitting training never came up again. Over the years, the guy has already gained experience, took past in a dozen different competitions and won more than once.

Olha Ilkova

Olha is a 4th year student at the Institute of Economics and Management. The girl has been involved in orienteering for more than 10 years and has remarkable achievements. At the age of 15, she went to her first European Championship and immediately received a master of sports, after which she confirmed this title three times. She won prizes at the European Championships and at the World Championships she took fifth place. All these competitions took place in different countries: Italy, Spain, Estonia and Latvia. In the summer Olha is going to compete in the Czech Republic, and in 2023 – in the United States.

Oleksandr Oleskevych

Oleksandr is a 3rd year student at the Institute of Economics and Management He is also a successful tennis player who has been playing this sport for six years. He is a member of cadet, junior and adult national teams. Oleksandr is a multiple champion and winner of the largest tournaments in Ukraine and Europe in various age categories. Already at the age of 16, Oleksandr received the title of Master of Sports, and today he manages to combine table tennis and training in the Higher Education Institution.

Barbara Iliash

Varvara is a 2nd year student at the Institute of Jurisprudence, Psychology and Innovative Education. For already 6 years she has been a professional archer and is a member of the national team of Ukraine.
