The event was organized by Sumy State University, Lviv Polytechnic National University and the International Association for Technological Development and Innovations. The partners of the conference were the Technical University of Košice, Slovakia, Kielce University of Technology, Poland, the University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic, the University of Poznań, Polan), the Association for Promoting Innovative Technologies (InnovativeFET), Croatia, and the Society for Robotics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year’s conference was held in a mixed format. The event brought together almost 50 offline participants and more than 300 participants from around the world who joined the conference online. In general, the conference was attended by representatives of leading universities, research institutions and industrial companies from 20 countries. This confirmed not only the international status of the DSMIE-2021 conference, but also its global importance for the development of engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering and chemical technology.

Three invited speakers, world-renowned researchers in the field of engineering from the universities included in the world rankings, namely: Vitalii Pasichnyk (National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», Ukraine), Katarzyna Antosz (Rzeszów University of Technology, Poland), Alper Uysal (Yildiz Technical University, Turkey) took part in the event. They presented the results, achievements, innovative developments and trends of further research, as well as proposals for cooperation.

45 thematic reports and 55 posters confirmed the high scientific level of the conference.

Full-text articles have been published in two volumes in Advances in Design, Simulation and Manufacturing IV series Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering by the world-famous Springer Nature publishing house (Switzerland), which is indexed by scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection.

To promote current trends and innovations in engineering, the DSMIE Summer School, which was attended by more than 40 students and postgraduate students, was held as part of the conference. Due to the support of the International Association for Technological Development and Innovation, young researchers had free access to all sections of the conference, as well as free access to 340 full-text articles published in the conference proceedings for the period 2018–2021.
