Have you ever solved a Rubik’s Cube? In how many seconds, minutes, or hours did you manage to achieve the desired result? There were cases when the cube was broken due to impatience, because a person could not understand how this puzzle works in general. However, there are people who can solve it in seconds, even with their eyes closed.

On August 5–6, the College of Information Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, held a Rubik’s cube and other puzzles competition. These are the first competitions in Lviv after a long break, as the previous ones were held back in 2019.

Peculiarities of the competition

Competitions took place in the following disciplines: 3x3, 2x2, pyraminx, skewb, 3x3 OH (one-handed), 4x4, 5x5, megaminx, clock, square-1, 3x3 blind, and 3x3 multiblind.

It should be noted that students, children and adults from different parts of Ukraine competed. In total, 65 people out of 70 joined the event, which is a kind of record. The record number of newcomers to these competitions is 20, that is, a third of the participants. In memory of the competition, they all received participant diplomas.

We visited the event and saw with our own eyes this interesting competition. Having entered the competition hall, we immediately drew attention to the picture, which was made of Rubik’s cubes. It was a portrait of the famous Ukrainian writer and musician Serhii Zhadan. Also, on this day, the participants made a portrait of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
