On September 19–22, 2023, the International Scientific Symposium on the Issues of Calculation Optimization (ISCOPT – XLVIII), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of academician V. Hlushkov, took place online on the Zoom platform

The organizers of the Symposium are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, V. Hlushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Department of Applied Mathematics, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and others.

144 researchers from four countries: Ukraine, Poland, Germany, and Hungary, took part in the Symposium. Among the participants there were 5 academicians from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 1 academician from the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, 4 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 41 Doctors of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, 20 Doctors of Technical Sciences, 29 Candidates of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, 18 Candidates of Technical Sciences, 1 doctoral student, 11 postgraduate students, 3 masters’ students, 2 students, researchers, teachers, assistants and young researchers.

Lecturers and students of the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic, made presentations at the Symposium:

  • O. Manzii, V. Gladun, V. Seredynskyi. Algorithm continuant for calculating approximate fractions of branched continued fraction;
  • Ya. Piziur, Yu. Karas. Hermitian splines with exponential-power links with an odd number of parameters;
  • B. Hnativ. Optimization of calculations in Rosenbrock methods.

The reports of the Symposium in the form of articles were printed in the scientific collection «Physico-mathematical modeling and information technologies» in two issues – No. 36 and No. 37 for 2023.

In addition to reports, the participants exchanged experiences, and took an active part in discussions and debates.

During the work of the Symposium, there was a competition for the best report by a young researcher. V. Seredynskyi, master’s student of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Department of Applied Mathematics, won the prize.

At the final meeting, there was a general discussion on the theme of the Symposium. The speakers noted that the reports were interesting and contained new findings
